Paint codes
Location
The paint code is located on the outer edge of the left-hand front suspension tower. 505 Turbo Injections with two-tone coats have a second paint code located on the right-hand side. The paint code is marked with very weak and touch sensitive paint which is the reason why the marking is almost completely worn out in many cases. Any attempt to clean the area with solvent will swept away the paint code. You can carefully try to clean the area with soap water and a cloth without using too much pressure. In hard cases you can try to use an ultraviolet light to reveal the code.

Some information like serial numbers only applies to European models (not U.S. models). Paint codes can also be searched from paint manufacturers' web sites: Sikkens, Lesonal, Glasurit, PPG, Standox. Colors may also have several variations (like "lighter", "darker" or "yellower" etc.).
